Description

The complex handling course will be attendee driven, that is, you will be expected to bring at least one case study from your working experience to problem solve.

During the course the attendees will have the opportunity to

  • examine the difference between a moving and positioning plan and a formal risk assessment.
  • review equipment to meet complex transfer and positioning needs.
  • evaluate the equipment their setting current has available and practice all the various methods of using it, e.g. 101 ways with slide sheets.
  • identify and perform techniques for plus sized, frail, elderly, people with dementia and for end of life care
  • analyse and discuss what constitutes complex transfer needs.

If there is any topic which your own staff have questioned you about then add it to the list! Many staff in care businesses use a limited number of techniques even if they have been shown others, we would postulate that this is due to a lack of confidence and competence and underpinning knowledge of what is possible. Many have asked us ”is that allowed?” when demonstrating a different technique because it is outside their own safe zone.
