This session is appropriate for practitioners and managers of services whose responsibilities include taking an active role in safeguarding enquiries. It is also suitable for those who have the lead for Adult Safeguarding within their organisation, or whose responsibilities include producing Adult Safeguarding policies, whether in a statutory, private, or voluntary setting.
Please note however, that this is not a course that covers specialist roles within a Section 42 safeguarding enquiry.
It is expected that participants have a good understanding of the following before attending the workshop: Who the safeguarding adult duties apply to (Care Act 2014). The core principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and their application in practice. How the Human Rights Act 1998 underpins safeguarding work.
The Liberty Protection Safeguards have now been agreed by both the House's of Parliament and the House of Lords, and whilst it is anticipated they will become law next year, the responsibilities that will be placed upon Registered Managers are significant. Whilst the Code of Practice around LPS is still to be written, what is clear is that Registered Managers are going to need to have a sound understanding of the Mental Capacity Act.More Information
